Input-Output HK – the development company and driving force behind Cardano (ADA) – has joined forces with the European Business University of Luxembourg (EBU). Its aim is to make education “more accessible, affordable and fair” in African developing countries.

Cardano’s new African aspirations

The research and development organization Input-Output HK (IOHK) announced its collaboration with the European Business University of Luxembourg (EBU) earlier this week:

“We are pleased to announce a new and exciting partnership between the IOHK and the European Business University of Luxembourg.”

The education provider has expanded to over 36 global organizations and is currently training 2,000 students in Africa. Against this background, the IOHK would like to offer training programs and further training projects on the continent. The collaboration would also give local students free access to educational materials.

The EBU will register for an EBU certificate program. Instead of tuition fees, students would only pay a commitment fee of € 10. The university will offer courses from the program in Plutus and Haskell – Cardano’s smart contract platforms.

Cardano, in turn, recently caught the attention of the cryptocurrency crowd when the dollar value of its native token hit an all-time high of nearly $ 3. On-chain data from social media platforms even confirmed that ADA had become the most talked about digital asset in recent days.

Cardano already extended to Ethiopia and Tanzania

In April, the popular DLT project Cardano – teamed up with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education to work on a blockchain-based national ID system.

The network will be based on the Atala PRISM. It aims to make it possible to create secure records of “the educational achievements of 3,500 schools, 5 million students and 750,000 teachers, give all students verifiable digital skills and increase social mobility”.

Shortly afterwards, the blockchain project continued its expansion on the African continent. IOHK and World Mobile have partnered on an initiative to use Cardano’s network to create digital identities, mobile internet connections and financial acceptance for communities in Tanzania.

Micky Watkins, CEO of World Mobile, along with her IOHK partners, praised the organization’s mission:

“World Mobile has built a network based on a new relationship between people and connectivity, where ownership, governance and identity all work to empower the user and provide access to all in a sustainable manner.”
